OIL OF ROHLOFF

Running like clockwork

Our special chain lubricant, the "Oil of Rohloff", has been specially developed to withstand the hardest conditions. Our „All Season Oil“  has been developed specifically for SPEEDHUB use, and is required to be changed every 5000km or annually (whichever comes first).

This environmentally friendly, easily bio-degradable chain lubricant was developed in partnership with a leading German lubricant manufacturer, and produced using over 90% renewable resources. Not only does this lubricant degrade fast, but it has also been painstakingly developed to withstand forces applied to it through a bicycle transmission.

Oil of Rohloff is based on a synthetic oil that also helps protect your chain thanks to the integration of special additives. The resulting chain oil is incredibly pressure resistant, has an extremely high slip characteristic and is much more water repellent than conventional chain lubricants.

The volume of bacteria which has biodegraded after 21 days is then assessed carefully.

Re-usable bottles

The Oil of Rohloff is supplied in reusable plastic bottles and as such, can easily avoid the recycling bin. Customers can simply take their empty bottle to their local dealer/refill station and purchase a refill. The Rohloff AG offer 5l Oil of Rohloff canisters equipped with a handy filling pump, to quickly and cleanly refill customer bottles.

We are convinced that the reusable bottle system, thanks to its reduced environmental impact and the considerably reduced cost for the customer (approximately half that of a new bottle), will establish itself as the way forward. Currently only available to German based customers

VSF Certification

Oil of Rohloff is stamped with the VSF seal of approval thanks to its „best lubricating properties“.  Only 2 brands of chain lubricant were awarded this certification, from over 19 brands tested.
